So what is never knows best...? It is what Mamimi, from FLCL, has written on her cigarettes. And now, I co-opted it for this stupid blog.

Worn Me Down [Rachael Yamagata]
Etymology of a nick. So long, long ago my parents named me Nicholas after a character on the TV show Eight Is Enough, or so they tell me at least. And having such a name, nicks just kinda happen naturally, right?
So, what do I start with? Garn. Yup, garn. Which is apparently some sort of old English swear word or so I was lead to believe. I think I picked it up from reading Terry Pratchett novels in early sometime. So ya, fear garn@netcom.com (that was my email address back in the day, dunno where it goes now).
Next step? Niche (common variation niche0 when niche is already taken). Yep, niche, and I have stuck with it pretty good. So why niche? The original thinking goes (as a nickname hander outer in my 7th grade PE class told me) take the first 3 letters of my first and last names, shove them together and you get nicche (pronounced nich-chi?). So, that started the original thought at least, and with some spell checking and increased vocabularly it corrected itself to niche. So, there it is, spam away if you feel vengeful (some thinking required).
And after trying some other nicks, nothing else has really stuck out to me as being a better alternative, so niche it is. unick and u_unick notwithstanding.
