So what is never knows best...? It is what Mamimi, from FLCL, has written on her cigarettes. And now, I co-opted it for this stupid blog.

I'm Happy But You Don't Like Me [Asobi Seksu]
Back from Puffy Ami Yumi and Berkeley. The show was great. Lots of fun, lots of energy, and lots more people than I expected (very full v. half full). It was definitely the most Asians I have ever seen at any concert, complete with real Japanese people to yell "engrish"'y things. Puffy Ami Yumi was really good, though in retrospect the high pitched singing should have been all the more reason to bring ear plugs, not a reason not to. The opening act was pretty decent too, if only trying to push their luck a little too much by getting the crowd to sing along with some Police song or another. And though the merchandise at the place was very pricey, walking out of the venue I got a Utada Hikaru postcard, so that was nice.
The crummy part of the day was trying to find a pay phone in Berkeley. Apparently, some administrative person decided that pay phones were useless and had them ripped out of all the buildings I visited (Dwinelle had one intact, but did not have a dial tone). Of course this sucks for the cellphone-less people like me (and I guess only me).
But I did get my diploma (score!), and the Asobi Seksu CD at Amoeba (Rasputin's online store did not see fit to find for me), and I listened in on some seminar about the design of a robot that did yeast experiments (I think it might have been mentioned at Slashdot a long while ago) that was attended by my AI professor and the TA I had for that class.
So long, long, productive Columbus day.
