So what is never knows best...? It is what Mamimi, from FLCL, has written on her cigarettes. And now, I co-opted it for this stupid blog.

Trying to find housing two months before moving sucks. Not that I am going at it with all that much effort, but it stil sucks. It does not suck because it is too late, as would be the case for normal Berkeley appartment hunting, but because it is too early. Nobody knows if they are going to have vacancies this far in advance and I understand that, but having to make several trips to the East Bay to scope out potential buildings and neighborhoods is pretty annoying.
Plus, rent is still higher than I expected. I thought I was going to easily find someplace where I would have monthly expenses, including rent and utilities, under a thousand a month, but it looks like I am either going to have to live in some shadier areas or spend more money a month. Sure, my income can probably handle the added expense, but then there is less money for me to waste on other things, like savings. Even with the high gas prices, commuting everyday from home is looking more and more like a possibility.
So why the early start anyways? Mostly because I will be most of July in either China or Charlotte, what that means is that the "Summer of Nick" ends in a little more than three weeks.
